This rare hardback is a second edition, printed by W. Bulmer & Co. in 1794 with 300 pages accompanied by 9 illustrations, most of them fold-put maps or plans. The book is in fair condition for its age. The plain rebind is scuffed and slightly worn. there is minor wormholing to the front board and first few pages, though this penetrates only as far as the preface, The text is perfectly legible. There is foxing throughout. A couple of the fold-outs evince some tears, and there are some other minor defects that one might expect from a book more than two centuries old. The binding is firm. Overall, this is a sound copy of a rare work, written while Tipu Sultan was still alive by someone who fought against him.
