Taking up where "Golden Eagle Years" ends, this book concentrates on two magnificent eagle pairs. Here the eagles' treks are accompanied by a vigil when an even rarer black-throated diver's nest appeared on an islet in the loch and some peregrine falcons colonized a nearby sea cliff. The book is laced with all the joys and privations of a taxing wilderness life and ends with the chance discovery of golden eagles nesting in the Lake District after a century of extinction south of the Border.
