Understanding Britain's Wildlife

Wood mice can have as many as six or seven litters of young a year; there are as many as 60 species of butterfly breeding in Britain, and 20 species migrate here from abroad; at least a third of Britain's surface is used for arable farming alone. This is the kind of information contained in this book about plants, animals, trees, birds, insects and their preferred habitats. It is intended for the enthusiastic amateur as well as the well-informed observer. The author is involved in wildlife journalism and photography and is the Conservation Officer of the Surrey Bird Club.
