Description
This the story of a young teacher who went to Tibet (The Treasure House) for 16 months in the 1980s to teach. Her determination was first tested by getting permission to travel by road from Kathmandu to Lhasa-a difficult journey to say the least mainly because of cold and altitude sickness. Once in Lhasa she became absorbed in daily life, culture, festivals, friendships and learning Tibetan. Her main emphasis is on living as opposed to politics but this inevitably played a part in her life. She had to leave Tibet with all other foreigners when political unrest occured. A marvellous book. A Review
