Sophie's story

In 1990, while Vince Smith was working at Chester Zoo, a newborn chimpanzee named Sophie was abandoned by her mother. This account tells how Vince and his family hand-reared Sophie, and how Sophie was eventually repatriated in Africa and integrated into a semi-wild group of chimpanzees.
