This is a children’s book I came across at a book fair in frere’s hall, Karachi. It includes stories, poems, limericks and games, along with various colour illustrations. Contributors include H G Wells and R L Stevenson. The stories seem to be reworkings of Indian folk tales according to English sensibilities. It’s a curious contribution by the British to the literature of India. Hardback. 512 pages. Barely damaged cover; the paper is somewhat stained with age. I’ve seen more recently published books in worse condition.
