sfx;beneath them lay the 5th land,the homeland,an enormous amethyst,filling almost the entire sky,its continental markings blurred by high flying clouds...the land was still beautiful for vaan and dayna at least,though most of its people had long since thankfully deserted its surface for the secure hidden cities.but it was a sick society ,taking its pleasures vicarously-in the excitement of the new projected stellar overdrive,for instance.....a sick society,its 5 crafts existing in uneasy equlibrium-the highs,aristocrats,powerfull still;the priests,triumphant in their flying temples;the basics,genetically crippled;and among the seculars and traders-stirring of revolution.others saw danger of the riven society,but only vaan saw the dangers of the stars
