Hidden victory: a novel of jesus

This is a beautifully written book based on the New Testament. The conversational style brings the reader into the gospel settings in a compelling way. Herbert Smith, a Jesuit, weaves an intricate story of Jesus and the Apostles. This novel describes all of the background, events, colors, smells, and traditions of the historical period then authors a tapestry that is an accuate, compelling novel of Christ. The author is true to Gospels as evidenced by the Imprimatur. The reader will find themselves drawn into the scenes and stories. The unexpected gem for me was his character development especially of Judas Iscariot. Very well done. This novel is a great place to start if you have ever had difficulty or trepidation about reading the Gospels. It's also a wonderful continuous unfolding of the life of Jesus Christ as a worthy reflection of Sacred Scripture.
