The Master-Christian

In Corelli's anti-Catholic novel, Christ returns to earth in the form of a street child and is saddened by how the churches have strayed from his teachings. The novel also tells the story of painter Angela Sovrani-- stabbed in an attempted murder by her less-talented lover who is envious of her genius.
