Description
Short story collection. Stories told from the point of view of an anonymous protagonist who exists in a world that blends the real and the illusory. Topics explored include a man who struggles for his existence after plunging into a sea of numbers in search of the ultimate prime, an artist who yearns to slip inside his work, and a chanter of hyms who retreats into the desert to purify his voice. Central theme is an obsessive quest for meaning and identity. Author's previous works include 'The French Mathematician', shortlisted for the New South Wales Premier's Literary Award, and the play 'The Drought', winner of the 1993 Wal Cherry Playscript of the Year and shortlisted for the Victorian Premier's Literary Award.
