Where the irrawaddy flows

A novel of rivalry, politics, business, and love. In British India two poor and illiterate boys migrate from Peshawar to Rangoon, Burma. It is the beginning of the 20th century. Both boys succeed in accumulating wealth and power. Dilawar prospers in legitimate business but Mastani is involved in gambling, drugs, and gangsterism. All of this happens against the background of momentous political changes in India and Burma.
