Description

A review: The author makes a compelling case for the island of Santorini as the site for Atlantis. One of many places that researchers try to place the legendary island, the volcanic eruption that tore apart the island provides the answer of how (most of) an island can disappear in a day and a night. And there is no doubt that the airborne volcanic ash and the collapse of the volcano's caldera caused widespread destruction throughout the eastern Mediterranean - the timing matches the Greek Dark Ages, the collapse of the Minoan civilization, possibly the Biblical 10 plagues. But, the island did not disappear! Neither is it "beyond the Pillars of Hercules" from both the Greek and Egyptian perspectives if the island is between the two! The author ignores these and fudges many other portions of Socrates tale from the Timaeus and the Critas. No different than other author from any other Atlantis book on my bookcase. It obviously did not solve the mystery of the location of Atlantis, but it was an easy read complete with photos and maps to illustrate his presentation.
