In the last 50 years, conservation and the natural environment have become matters of huge public and political concern all over the world. At the very centre of this concern is the World Conservation Union, formerly the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) which has done more than any other single body to orchestrate action on behalf of the natural world.
