The basics of psychology

This book is an introduction to Psychology according to the syllabus of first year Psychology and bs first semester course ” introduction to Psychology” Punjab university. It describes in detail all the topics included in the syllabus with clear pictures and with to the point content. The main specialty of this book is that it is written with a clear idea of students’ understanding in mind. It describes the subject matter in very simple and easy to understand sentences. The book has nine chapters in which, it is tried to give a comprehensive account of all the topics given by federal board in the syllabus and the introductory course of Psychology in bs psychology syllabus. The first chapter gives the definition of Psychology along with the complete description of goals and areas of application. The second chapter is about the common methods of research being used in Psychological investigation. In the third chapter biological bases of the behavior are discussed in detail with the complete diagrams etc. The fourth chapter is divided into two parts; sensation and perception while the fifth chapter gives a comprehensive account of motivation and emotional behavior. The sixth chapter of the book is about learning while definition, types, theories and problems of memory are discussed in chapter seventh of this book. The eighth chapter is about higher cognitive processes including problem solving and creative thinking. In the last chapter personality is discussed with different theories and personality assessment techniques.
