The Complete Idiot's Guide to Psychology

  • By:Joni E. Johnston
  • ISBN:1592570690
  • Publication Type: Penguin
  • Category: Self Help/Motivational
  • Condition:Like New
  • No Of Pages:454
  • Specification:Good book and very informative; but unfortunately like the other books I've read in the Idiot Guide series, they assume the theory of evolution and modernist ideas. I suspect they never would have been published had the authors been independent thinkers. On page 275 the author says that the phrase "the blind leading the blind" comes from a piece of art painted by Pieter Bruegel ("Parable of the Blind"). That's not true. It comes from the words of Christ: " if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch." (Matthew 15:14). Another problem with the Idiot Guide books I've read, is that they seem to promote New Age concepts (meditation, yoga, etc). But if they endorsed prayer, I'm sure lawsuits would be filed against the publishers or authors.
